Applications are now open for the Rothschild Foundation Hanadiv Europe Academic Jewish Studies grants.

This programme aims to develop rigorous, systematic research and education in academic Jewish studies throughout Europe.
We provide funding to individual scholars and to university departments to undertake innovative Jewish Studies research and to train the next generation of scholars. We also prioritise the teaching and learning of Jewish languages.
We offer funding for:
- Doctoral Fellowships
- Post-Doctoral Fellowships
- Research Consortia Grants
- Jewish Language Teaching Fellowships
- Academic Language Grants
Several major university departments across Europe currently have a multi-year grant from the Foundation to ensure the sustainability of their Jewish studies research and teaching. These grants are currently under review and may be offered again in autumn 2025.

Support for institutions to employ a post-doctoral fellow in Jewish Studies.

Support is available for universities to establish research consortia, which link scholars at different institutions working on shared research projects.
Jewish Language Teaching Fellowships
Support for institutions to enhance their Jewish Studies programme by offering additional Jewish language classes.
Academic Language Grants
Foundation-funded scholarships are available for intensive Hebrew and Yiddish courses in Israel
